Passwords travel. They get reused, screenshotted, whispered across a kitchen, and saved in browsers on shared devices. On a cloud desktop—where the valuable thing is the remote workspace, not the plastic laptop—password-only access is a weak binding between person and session.

Combine that with separate profiles under family, educational, or corporate contracts, and you get a coherent story: shared metal, personal sessions, durable files in MYDOCS, mail that is not mixed across siblings or coworkers.

Habits that keep the trust model healthy

Enroll carefully during onboarding. Do not treat facial login as optional theater. Keep Chrome updated. Give the camera a known-good test after OS updates on the local device. Teach household members and staff that “logging in as someone else” is an incident, not a favor.

If you travel, plan for lighting and privacy: a dark café corner and a covered laptop camera will both fail facial login for different reasons. Neither is a reason to abandon the model—both are reasons to prepare an alternate quiet spot or fix the shutter before an important session.
