Equity and homework parity
The quiet benefit of an educational cloud desktop is fairness after the bell. Students without a powerful home PC can still open the same tools classmates used at 10 a.m. That does not erase every equity gap—broadband access still matters—but it removes one of the most common homework excuses in software-heavy subjects.
A pilot that respects academic calendars
Run one course for two weeks. Measure login time, how often students find their files, and whether homework parity improved. Ask IT how many hours they did not spend reimaging. Ask teachers whether the Chrome path reduced “I can’t install this at home” tickets.
Document where MYDOCS folders should live per class, and who owns cleanup at term end. Those operational details decide whether the cloud lab feels calm or chaotic.
A school lab without a physical lab is not a slogan against buildings. It is a way to spend scarce budget on teaching time and software quality instead of identical towers that age in lockstep.
